Both robots are adept at picking up surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and are able to navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may be stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid getting blocked. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is low it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning where it left off. Battery life is about an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes three hours to charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line and has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot vacuum cleaner for sale through the app or voice.

In our tests the i7+ performed faster and more maneuverable than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. The biggest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world of vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is a sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households however, it can also fit in well next to the coffee table or a bookshelf where you can move it around like the magic wand.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It quickly switches from handheld to floor vacuum and back.

The model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments as well as a handheld. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it frequently runs out of battery power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694, as it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better maneuver its own.
