WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrades upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item level upgrade, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be bought by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item level upgrade and the current level of the item level upgrade. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular item upgrader mod level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less, even when they belong to another set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one use, so it's important to use them wisely. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
